From May 26 to 30, 2025, the 3rd International Al-Khwarizmi Mathematics Olympiad was successfully held at Urgench State University. Talented mathematics students from leading countries — Brazil, the USA, China, India, South Korea, Malaysia, Japan, Vietnam, Russia, Serbia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkey, and Turkmenistan — as well as from various higher educational institutions of Uzbekistan, participated in this prestigious competition. During the Olympiad, participants demonstrated their knowledge by solving complex and interesting mathematical problems.

On May 30, the solemn closing ceremony of the Olympiad took place. The event was opened by mathematician and academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Professor Shavkat Ayupov, who spoke about the international significance of the Olympiad and its role in attracting the younger generation to science.

Mahmudjon Boltaboyev, Director of the Center for Research on the Development of Higher Education; Zoir Ibragimov, Professor at California State University and Chairman of the Olympiad Jury; and Sardor Khodjaniyazov, Acting Rector of Urgench State University, also delivered congratulatory remarks. They emphasized the important role of this Olympiad in promoting scientific competitions among young scientists and students and expressed their belief that such events will help strengthen our country’s position in the global scientific and educational community.

The results of the 3rd International Al-Khwarizmi Mathematics Olympiad were as follows:

According to the team competition results, the University of Science and Technology of China secured 1st place, scoring 189 points out of a maximum of 210. Seoul National University, South Korea, took 2nd place with 187 points. Nankai University of China placed 3rd with 186 points. These achievements were regarded as a great success by the participating students and their coaches.

The winners of the individual competitions were also duly awarded. Participants who demonstrated outstanding knowledge and skills received 10 gold medals, 18 silver medals, and 27 bronze medals. This once again confirmed the high level of competence among the Olympiad participants. The coaches of the teams were also recognized and honored for their contributions.

After the official part of the closing ceremony of the 3rd International Al-Khwarizmi Mathematics Olympiad, the artistic portion continued in a more upbeat spirit, featuring national melodies and songs. Traditional and modern musical performances brought a vibrant variety to the event, leaving a warm and lasting impression on participants and guests.
